Last Updated: July 18th, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how and why AXS Lab Inc. and its affiliates (collectively, “AXS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collect personal information, and describes our practices for using, protecting, and disclosing that information.
By using the AXS Map website at axsmap.com, the AXS Map mobile application, and any associated services, communications, and applications (collectively, the “Service”), you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent, please do not use the Service.
1. What Information We Collect
During the course of using the Service, we collect information about you and your use of the Service. This may include information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual or household (“Personal Information”).
We collect information in three general ways:
- Directly from you when you provide it.
- Automatically as you interact with the Service.
- From third parties such as identity providers and mapping/analytics services.
1.1 Information You Provide
When you interact with AXS Map, you may provide us with:
- Account Information. When you register for an AXS Map account on the Site or in the app, we collect identifiers such as your name, email address, password, mailing address, and your newsletter subscription choices. You are not required to provide this information, but some features of the Service may not be available without it.
- Communications and Requests. When you contact us, we collect your name, contact information (such as email address and, in some cases, postal address) and the content of your communications. If you do not provide this information, we may not be able to respond to your request.
- Surveys, Sweepstakes, and Promotions. If you participate in surveys, sweepstakes, mapathon-related promotions, or similar activities offered through the Service (“Promotions”), we may collect your name and contact information (such as email address, postal address, and phone number) in connection with the Promotion. Participation is voluntary; if you choose not to provide this information, you may be unable to participate or receive associated benefits.
- User-Generated Content. When you use AXS Map to submit place reviews, ratings, comments, photos, event details, or other content related to venues, accessibility features, or mapathons, we collect that content and associate it with your account or device. Please do not submit content that includes sensitive personal information unless expressly requested and clearly necessary.
1.2 Information About Your Use of the Service
As you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information about your device and interactions, which may be considered Personal Information when linked to you. This can include:
- The domain from which you access the Site.
- Your browser type and operating system.
- Internet Protocol (IP) address.
- Date and time of your visit (time stamp).
- Pages browsed and features used on the Service.
- The website or source used to link to the Site.
- Search terms used to navigate the Service.
- A browsing session identifier.
- Whether you are a first-time visitor.
We may also collect information about content viewed or interactions with AXS Map features, such as venues you view or review, mapathons you organize or join, and engagement with notifications.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and local storage) to support core functionality and help us understand how visitors use the Service. Cookies are small text files placed on your device that may contain information used to recognize your browser, remember your preferences, or associate usage with your account.
We may use:
- Required (Essential) Cookies, which enable you to navigate the Site, access secure areas, and perform functions such as logging in or submitting forms. Because these cookies are essential, there is no option to opt out of them.
- Performance Cookies, which collect aggregated information about how visitors use the Service to help us improve functionality and performance.
- Functionality Cookies, which remember choices you make and provide more personalized features, including optimizing your experience after logging in.
You can manage certain types of cookies through your browser or device settings; however, disabling some cookies may impact the functionality of the Service.
1.3 Analytics
AXS Map uses analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to help us understand usage patterns and improve the Service. These tools may collect and store data such as the time of visit, pages visited, time spent on each page, IP address, and type of operating system or device used. You can learn more about how Google uses data or opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On described by Google.
1.4 Location Information (AXS Map Mobile Application)
When you use the AXS Map mobile application, the app may request permission to access your device’s location in order to provide location-based services. If you grant permission, the app may access precise location information from your device, including GPS coordinates while the app is in use and, in some cases, while running in the background.
Location data is used solely to provide features of the AXS Map service, including:
- Identifying and displaying nearby accessible venues and events based on your location.
- Showing relevant places to review or mapathon routes based on your vicinity.
- Supporting mapathon organization and participation features that depend on geography.
When location services are enabled, your device’s latitude and longitude may be transmitted to our backend systems so that we can return nearby venues, events, and mapathon routes. Certain location-related information associated with venues and events (such as latitude, longitude, and place identifiers) may be stored in our databases.
We may use third-party mapping services, such as Google Maps, to display maps and location-based information within the application; those services may process location information as necessary to provide mapping functionality. We do not sell, rent, or use your location data for advertising purposes. You can control whether the application accesses your location through your device’s permission settings at any time.
1.5 Information From Third Parties
We may receive Personal Information about you from:
- Third-party identity management providers (such as Facebook or Google) when you choose to log in through those providers.
- Third-party mapping or analytics services as needed to support functionality.
- Other service providers who assist us in operating the Service.

Where permitted by law, we may provide information about other products or services we offer that are similar to those you have already used or inquired about and that we believe may interest you. You can opt out of receiving electronic direct marketing at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in the communication or contacting us at [email protected].
- Safety, Security, and Fraud Prevention. To protect against, identify, and prevent fraud, unauthorized or illegal activity, claims, and other liabilities, and to enhance the security and integrity of the Service.

- Public Authorities and Legal Proceedings. We may disclose Personal Information to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as required by law or as we believe necessary or appropriate to comply with legal process, enforce governing terms, protect rights and safety, or investigate and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activity.

In determining appropriate retention periods, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, the purposes for which we process Personal Information and whether those purposes can be achieved through other means, and applicable legal requirements.
6. Links to Other Websites
The Service may contain links to other websites or services of interest. Once you use these links to leave the AXS Map Site, we do not control the privacy or security practices of those third-party websites. 8. Cookies and Do Not Track
As described above, the Site uses cookies and similar technologies to support its functionality and improve performance.
California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. Because there is currently no industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.
9. Security
We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect Personal Information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, taking into account the risks involved in processing and the nature of the Personal Information.
Despite these efforts, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of Personal Information during transmission to or storage on our systems. We also cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third parties from illegally obtaining access to Personal Information.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the Policy was most recently revised. Changes become effective when posted on the Site, and your continued use of the Service after any changes are posted will signify your acceptance of those changes.
